Exploring the Social and Political Impact of Web3

Web3 is as much about social change as technological advancement. Decentralized networks provide an opportunity for an entirely new form of organizational empowerment. With concerns over the power and centralized control of large social media and tech companies, the Web3 marketplace has begun to counter that influence with the development of self-sovereign identity, blockchain transparency, peer-to-peer exchanges, tokenization and crypto, and the like. But decentralization and its attendant tools do not necessarily lead to 'better' outcomes. The range of applications of Web3 technology as well as the motivations and quality of governance behind projects can be highly diverse and challenging. So the questions we are interested in exploring in this podcast series is how do we develop the web3 applications and ecosystem to deliver on the promise to build a better world.
